A young couple who devote their lives to nature had dreamed of having a little house in the big forest. They were not local people but had worked here for 20 years and felt attached to the land. veryday after work, they drove around seeing the lives of farmers and villagers. They went paying homage to Luang Por Khao regularly. Gradually, happiness and peace seep into their minds. They had the idea of buying some of the land here, as they prayed to Luang Por Khao “If there is luck, we wish to live under your sacred guardianship. We will settle down, protect nature, and improve the community.”



And Luck did answer their prayer. They came upon a bare cornfield with handful of big trees around a small two-storey square house. Not very far were rocks and streams. (The house, at the present time, is the White Elephant Food Park) This determined young couple put all their strength and energy into the land, pinning their hopes on it as a place to live peacefully when they got old. From the first day they got the land, they were very happy. Their imaginations ran wild. No obstacles could get into their ways. Each step they take was slow, steady and safe, beginning with the learning to understand nature.



A few mango trees and tamarinds were bedded out. After work, some of their colleagues who share the same love to nature came and helped with the digging, watering and dunging. There were two streams flowing through the land. The whisper of the streams told them wherever soil and trees are, there is also water. So the next thing on their to-do list was digging a well to store water for the trees and to be used in their everyday lives. They couldn’t only hang upon clear streams and nature. They made efforts to construct the well, built soil pad around the well’s mouth. Tiredness swept through their bodies and sweat coursed down their faces. But every drop of it was the happiness that touched their hearts, strengthened their spirit and aroused the energy to deal with tomorrow tasks.



A few days later, rain poured down in sheets as if to test the new landowner’s endurance. At first they were glad at the idea of angels above sending the rain to fill their well. However, at midnight, when the couple and their friends went and took a look, the water overflowed and destroyed the well. They had to work at it all over again. Under the rain, they worked as one, stood in line, scooped up the soil with their bare hands and passed it to fix the well’s mouth. Not until 2 a.m. that their task finished. From yesterday devotion becomes the beginning of today beauty. These couple alone cannot make their dreams come true in a short space of time. Luckily, they have friends who share the same dream and idea: the dream to create the land of nature, art, music, and sport where they could spend the rest of their lives together. MAP
